About Your Coaches

This membership, and the courses within it, was developed and presented by Declan Edwards, founder of BU Happiness College and one of Australia’s leading voices in positive psychology. Declan is a happiness researcher, speaker, and educator who has spent more than a decade helping individuals and organisations build the science-backed skills of happiness. With a Master’s in Applied Positive Psychology, thousands of hours of coaching experience, and a reputation for making complex ideas genuinely practical, Declan has guided people around the world to create happier, more fulfilling lives. You’ll also be supported by Ami Rankin, our Head of Happiness Coaching and a celebrated personal coach known for her warm, grounded, and deeply effective style. Ami has helped hundreds of clients navigate self-doubt, emotional overwhelm, and major life transitions using evidence-based tools blended with compassionate, real-world guidance. Her expertise in behaviour change, emotional regulation, and strengths-based coaching means you’ll always have someone in your corner who genuinely understands the human side of personal growth.   • How much time do I need each week?

    The Happiness Essentials: Freshman Year curriculum is designed to be completed in 30 minutes per week. That said, you're always welcome to invest more time into your personal growth and happiness development.

  • Is this therapy?

    No, this is a skills based education and personal growth program grounded in Positive Psychology. A lot of our members and graduates say they find this approach more uplifting, practical, and future focused than therapy.

  • Can I cancel at anytime?

    We don't believe in lock in contracts - in fact, we think that they're terrible for people's happiness. So if you ever feel that it's not in your best interest to continue your studies at BU Happiness College you can cancel at anytime.

  • What's the difference between Happiness Essentials enrolment and Happiness Enhanced enrolment?

    Happiness Enhanced includes everything in Essentials, plus significantly greater flexibility and access. You’re not restricted to a set sequence; you can explore deeper tools, jump ahead, and shape your learning around what you need most. In short: • Essentials = structure and foundations • Enhanced = autonomy, depth, and faster personal growth. Both options lead to meaningful growth. Enhanced simply offers more control and a broader learning experience for those who want it.
